Description
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Dairy Farm Manager to lead the daily operations of a commercial dairy enterprise located in New South Wales.This hands-on leadership role is responsible for overseeing herd health, milk production, pasture and feed management, staff supervision, and the overall operational performance of the dairy farm. The successful applicant will play a key role in maintaining high standards of animal welfare, productivity, workplace safety, and farm efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing day-to-day dairy farm operations, including milking schedules and herd management
- Monitoring herd health, nutrition, breeding programs, and animal welfare standards
- Supervising, training, and coordinating farm employees and contractors
- Monitoring milk production performance and implementing strategies to improve productivity
- Planning and managing feed programs, pasture rotation, and fodder requirements
- Operating, maintaining, and coordinating repairs of farm machinery and dairy equipment
- Maintaining accurate farm records, production reports, and compliance documentation
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety, animal welfare, and biosecurity regulations
- Assisting with budgeting, operational planning, and continuous farm improvement initiatives
- At least 3 years’ experience in dairy farming or dairy farm management
- Strong knowledge of herd health, dairy production systems, and pasture management
- Experience supervising and leading farm staff
- Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Physical fitness and willingness to undertake hands-on farm duties
- A current driver’s licence
- A relevant qualification in Agriculture, Dairy Production, or Farm Management
- Experience operating rotary or herringbone dairy systems
- Understanding of Australian dairy farming practices and compliance standards
- Machinery operation and maintenance experience
- Competitive salary package of $80,000 – $90,000 plus superannuation
