Job DescriptionPurearth Foods is an Australian family-owned dairy and plant-based beverage processor and contract manufacturer, with a fully integrated, advanced, single-site plant in the western suburbs of Melbourne. We are seeking highly qualified and innovative Food Technologist to join our team and develop new and improve our existing food products, and set standards for producing, packaging and marketing food.
Your role includes but is not limited to the following Areas of Accountability Analyse and conduct research to develop theories, techniques and processes, and test the reliability of outcomes under different conditions
Advising on preserving, processing, packaging, storing and delivering foods Develop product labelling guidelines Develop quality control procedures and safety standards for the manufacture of food products
Testing food products for flavour, colour, taste, texture and nutritional content Implement, maintain, and verify Food safety management system (FSMS) including Quality Management System (QMS) Implement a vendor assurance program and ensure customer complaints and corrective actions are prioritised to maintain both food quality and food safety standards
Manage internal Non-conformance and deviations and ensure corrective actions are prioritised to maintain both FQ and FS standards. Facilitation of internal and external audits ensuring that quality and food safety requirements are maintained and improved if non-conformance exists.
Training and coaching through induction program and site capability programs Always Promote and maintain a safe working environment Support the implementation of a safety & environment governance structure throughout laboratory
Ensures compliance with all safety & environmental policies and systems. (e.g. PPE, Hazard & Incident Reporting, LOTO, safe work practices). Ensure all laboratory activities are carried out in a safe manner
Ensure laboratory standards of practise adheres and remains compliant within the PEF Quality systems Document food records, Report out-of-specification results through right 1st time metrics Assist with Laboratory activities and cover where required, including organoleptic assessment, chemical and microbial testing
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for PEF utilizing Lean principles. Upholds OH&S policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors Participate in all training and development activities as directed by the business
Qualifications, Skills and Specialised knowledge Minimum Tertiary Qualification in Food Science With proven working experience in the same field
Proven experience in auditing of systems and processes GMP &/or HACCP qualifications preferred Possess some understanding of QA systems and processes within a food manufacturing environment
Having the ability to communicate with both internal and external stake holders Having good interpersonal, communication, presentation, and time management skills Documentation skills
