About the role

Reporting to Store Management, the Dairy / Freezer Department Manager is responsible for the smooth daily operation of the department, including stock control, merchandising, team support, and maintaining store standards.

This is a Level 6 Award role and is not a senior management position. The focus is on consistent execution, team leadership, and delivering a great shopping experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the Dairy and Freezer departments

• Lead, train, and support team members on shift

• Ensure product availability, correct rotation, and stock control

• Manage ordering, markdowns, and shrink within the department

• Maintain merchandising and presentation standards

• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and WHS requirements

• Support rostering and daily workflow within agreed budgets

• Deliver a positive, customer-focused shopping experience

• Work collaboratively with Store Management and other departments

About you

• Experience working in a supermarket or retail food environment

• Confidence leading a small team in a fast-paced setting

• Strong organisational and time management skills

• A practical, hands-on approach to leadership

• Commitment to food safety, quality, and store standards

• Reliable, professional, and customer focused

Previous experience managing a Dairy, Freezer, or similar department is highly regarded.

What we offer

• Full-time employment (38 hours per week)

• Level 6 Award classification

• Salary range $78,000 – $82,000 inclusive of super
